Governing law: Malaysia

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Legacyloom's website and your engagement with our sessions and programmes. By making an enquiry, booking, or attending a session, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions, contact us before booking.

1. Definitions

  • "Legacyloom", "we", "us", "our" โ€” refers to Legacyloom, operating from 47 Jalan Raja Chulan, 50200 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • "Client", "you", "your" โ€” any individual or family who enquires about, books, or attends a session or programme.
  • "Sessions" โ€” the Heritage Reading Session, the Family Records Inventory Workshop, and the Family Heritage Documentation programme, as described on our website.
  • "Website" โ€” the Legacyloom website at legacylo.info.
  • "Output" โ€” any typed inventory sheet, printed bound heritage record, or reading card produced as a result of a session.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an enquiry form, confirming a booking, or attending a session, you confirm that:

  • You are aged 18 or over, or acting with the authority of an adult who is.
  • You have the capacity to enter a legally binding agreement.
  • You have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

3. Description of Services

Legacyloom provides three administrative and educational services:

  • Heritage Reading Session (RM 280) โ€” a single educational session introducing the general structure of family-records management. Descriptive only.
  • Family Records Inventory Workshop (RM 640) โ€” a half-day facilitated session for sorting, labelling, and inventorying family documents. Administrative only.
  • Family Heritage Documentation (RM 3,850) โ€” a multi-appointment programme producing a written and photographic heritage record. Descriptive and educational only.

Our sessions are available to clients residing in or able to travel to Greater Kuala Lumpur. The Heritage Documentation programme includes home visits within Greater KL; travel outside this area may be subject to additional arrangement.

4. Bookings and Payments

  • All bookings are confirmed in writing (by email) once full payment or an agreed deposit has been received.
  • Prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of all materials stated in the session description.
  • Payment methods accepted include bank transfer and such other methods as communicated at the point of booking.
  • Cancellation by the client: If you cancel more than 7 days before the booked session date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 7 days of the session, 50% of the session fee is retained to cover facilitation preparation. If you cancel on the day or do not attend, no refund is issued.
  • Cancellation by Legacyloom: If we must cancel a session, we will offer a full refund or the option to reschedule. We are not liable for costs you may incur as a result of our cancellation.
  • The Heritage Documentation programme fee covers the agreed scope. Changes to scope after commencement may result in an adjusted fee, which will be agreed in writing before work proceeds.

5. Scope and Limitations of Sessions

All Legacyloom sessions are administrative and educational in nature. The following limitations apply in all circumstances:

  • We do not provide legal advice, including advice about inheritance, estate distribution, wills, trusts, or property rights.
  • We do not provide financial advice, including advice about the value of any document, asset, or financial product.
  • We do not interpret documents in a professional or regulated capacity.
  • Outputs (inventory sheets, heritage records, reading cards) are descriptive documents for personal use. They do not carry legal weight and are not substitutes for professional advice.
  • We do not retain copies of your family's personal documents without your explicit written consent.

6. Client Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for ensuring that all documents and materials brought to or made available during a session belong to you or that you have authority from the owner to share them.
  • For the Heritage Documentation programme, you are responsible for obtaining the consent of any family member to be interviewed before that interview takes place.
  • You must inform us in advance of any special requirements relevant to the conduct of the session.
  • You agree to use our website and services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

The Legacyloom name, logo, website content, reading card materials, and session materials are the intellectual property of Legacyloom and may not be reproduced without permission.

Output documents produced for your family (inventory sheets, bound heritage records) are yours to keep and use freely for personal purposes. You may not reproduce or commercialise them in a way that misrepresents their origin or implies regulated professional status.

8. Disclaimers

Our services are provided on an "as provided" basis. We make no representations or warranties that:

  • The documents identified during a session are complete or legally valid.
  • The heritage record will serve any particular purpose beyond family interest and education.
  • Our website will be continuously available or free from errors.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law:

  • Legacyloom's total liability to you for any claim arising from a session or programme shall not exceed the fee paid for that session.
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including decisions made on the basis of session outputs.
  • We are not liable for the loss or damage of documents brought to sessions by clients, although we take reasonable care of all materials during a session.
  • We are not liable for circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Legacyloom against claims, losses, or expenses arising from your misuse of our services, your breach of these Terms, or your provision of inaccurate or unauthorised materials during a session.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate a multi-appointment programme at any point. In such cases, Legacyloom will issue a pro-rata refund for undelivered appointments, less any reasonable costs already incurred. Sections 5, 8, 9, and 10 of these Terms survive termination.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or our services shall first be referred to informal resolution by contacting us at [email protected]. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer under Malaysian consumer protection legislation.

13. General Provisions

  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any written booking confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between us for the relevant session.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of our right to do so in future.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your booking to another person without our prior written consent.
  • Notices: Formal notices should be sent to [email protected] or by post to our registered address.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with the date last updated. For bookings already confirmed, the Terms in force at the time of booking apply. For new bookings, the current Terms apply.
