Why Legacyloom

An Unhurried, Ordered Approach

Clear, Structured Process

Every session follows a documented method — materials are handled consistently, labelled in a uniform format, and returned to families with a written summary of what was done.

Experienced Facilitators

Our facilitators have worked with Malaysian families across Kuala Lumpur, building familiarity with the kinds of materials — Jawi documents, old land titles, bilingual correspondence — that appear in local family archives.

Respectful Handling

Documents from an older generation carry weight. We work carefully, at a pace the family is comfortable with, and never press for access to materials that family members would prefer to set aside.

Written Deliverables

Each programme produces a tangible output — a typed inventory, a printed heritage record, or a reading card — that families can keep and refer to long after the session ends.

Clearly Bounded Scope

Our sessions are educational and administrative. We do not give advice on regulated matters, and we are transparent about this boundary — families know exactly what we will and will not do.

Kuala Lumpur Based

Our office is at Jalan Raja Chulan, central KL — easily reached by families across the Klang Valley. The heritage documentation programme includes home visits within Greater KL.

"A well-kept inventory is the quietest form of care a family can offer the generation that comes after."

Whether you are at the very beginning — a box of papers, no idea where to start — or looking for a full written heritage record, we can help you take the next practical step.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly happens during the Records Inventory Workshop?

You bring the documents — household papers, photographs, written letters, personal identification papers — to our Jalan Raja Chulan premises. A facilitator sits with you and helps work through everything at a steady pace: sorting materials into categories, writing labels, and building a typed inventory that names what each item is and where it is being kept. The session runs for a half-day and ends with a printed inventory sheet you can take home.

Do you give advice on what the documents mean for my family's situation?

No. Our programmes are administrative and educational: we help you sort, label, and describe what you have. We do not interpret the content of any document, and we do not advise on matters that require a regulated qualification. If you have questions about the meaning or status of specific documents, a relevant professional — a solicitor, a licensed estate planner, or a registrar — would be the right person to speak with.

How long does the Heritage Documentation programme take?

Most families complete the programme across two or three appointments, typically spread over four to six weeks. The pace is determined by your family's availability and how much material there is to work through. The final bound record is usually delivered within two weeks of the last appointment.

Will the facilitator come to our home, or do we come to you?

The Records Inventory Workshop and Heritage Reading Session take place at our Jalan Raja Chulan office. The Heritage Documentation programme includes home visits — the facilitator comes to your home within Greater KL for the interview and photography appointments, so older family members do not need to travel.

What should we bring to the Records Inventory Workshop?

Bring whatever you have: a box of papers, loose photographs, bundles of letters, old identification documents, property files, or anything else that belongs to the family archive you are trying to organise. There is no need to sort things beforehand — arriving with a mixed-up collection is perfectly fine and quite normal.

What is the Heritage Reading Session suitable for?

It is a good starting point for anyone who wants to understand the general landscape before committing to a larger programme. The session covers the kinds of documents that typically appear in a Malaysian family archive, how they are usually organised, and what a written inventory involves. It is descriptive only — we draw on publicly available adult-education materials and do not advise on specific family situations.

How do we pay, and is there a deposit?

We accept bank transfer and online payment. A 50% deposit is requested at booking to confirm the appointment; the remaining balance is due on the day of the session or, for the documentation programme, on delivery of the bound record. Full pricing is listed on our Sessions page.
